Synter recently ran a contest internally to help our employees build up a strong LinkedIn presence. We value our employees, and whether they retire as Synter Resource Group employees or want to move on, it’s important to us that their LinkedIn paints them in the best way possible and displays their experiences, expertise, connections, and differentiators. Here are some of the main tips we gave our people, and you can use them, too!

     1. Post a fantastic photo

Posting a photo on your LinkedIn page can increase the likelihood that people will view your profile. To do this, consider investing in a professional photo taken rather than snapping a selfie. When you look your best you will impress others while feeling good about yourself.

  1. Use a power headline

After your photo, your headline may be the next-best opportunity you have to make a good first impression. In addition to carefully choosing keywords that match relevant queries, be specific about your professional roles and avoid negative terms such as “unemployed.”

  1. Get recommendations

As soon as you finish a project or receive an award, ask for recommendations from key participants. To increase cooperation, make your requests either by telephone or during a face-to-face meeting. That way, you can help the other person understand what information they should include.

  1. Display your skills

Get more views on your LinkedIn profile by choosing to display your featured skills and endorsements. Make sure your best skills appear at the top of the list. Also, you should block any irrelevant endorsements.

  1. Add visual content

Add photos, images and videos to the various sections of your LinkedIn profile. This approach will make your pages more interesting and engaging. Start by adding this type of content to the experience and education sections.

  1. Use LinkedIn Publisher

Establish yourself as an authority in your field by posting blogs directly to LinkedIn. Visitors to your profile will see them and have a chance to gain knowledge about you and your topics. Your blogs will also improve your visibility in LinkedIn search as well as third-party search engines.

  1. Pay for promotion

Use the LinkedIn paid advertising platform to promote your profile. You can precisely define your audience and track the performance of your paid promotions in real time. This is a great way to expand your audience or break into a new category.

As you gain experience with LinkedIn, stay open to other ideas that may help you rise above the noise and attract the attention that you deserve. Now, get to work!
